An Emotional Farewell: Important Update on Termination of Ambi Climate Services

Dear Ambi Climate Users and Partners,

As I sit down to pen this message, it's with a heart full of mixed emotions. After an incredible decade of innovation, learning, and shared aspirations, the time has come for us to bid farewell. With a heavy heart, I announce the termination of all Ambi Climate services, effective March 31, 2024, as we move towards the winding down of business operations at Ambi Labs.

Reflecting on Our Shared Journey:

Thank you for being among the tens of thousands of users who have supported our dream of bringing AI-powered, comfort-focused, air conditioning control to the world. With your support, we were able to launch the world’s first AI-powered Smart AC controller, deliver 6 different hardware designs, and scale our system to support users in over 100 countries across the globe.

Sadly, despite the support of users like you, the complexity and high costs associated with the ground-up development of a truly AI-powered IoT device meant that we were not able to turn this dream into a sustainable reality. Although we did try multiple pivots along the way, the technical complexity of our fully in-house developed solution, coupled with operational challenges, low Smart Home adoption in our target markets, and business model challenges meant that revenues fell short of what was needed to continue to run the business and keep the lights on.

The decision to shutter Ambi Climate was not taken lightly. We have spent countless hours in the last few years trying to make Ambi Climate more financially viable, from undertaking partnerships with property developers, utility companies and air conditioner manufacturers, to attempting to introduce recurring revenue streams, to shifting our team offshore to streamline costs. Some of these pivots paid off, while others ended up further depleting our limited resources. More recently, we decided to refocus on improving our core Ambi Climate experience with a new, Matter-certified version, but delays meant that the product could not be launched in time.

Heartfelt Gratitude:

Through our journey with Ambi, we forged many memories and bonds with amazing people; from our investors, who bought into our vision and supported us throughout this journey, to the Ambi team members, with whom we achieved many milestones. Last, but not least, we are humbled by the support of you, our users and partners, who so generously shared your feedback, challenges and insights - without which we would not have been able to develop this unique and innovative product.

How This Impacts You:

Our immediate goal is to do as much as we can to reduce the impact to you. 

Service Continuity and User Data:

You will be able to use the Ambi Climate service until the end of March, 2024. From the 1st of April, your devices will no longer be able to connect to the Ambi Climate servers, and you will no longer be able to sign into your account.

  • Service Access: Our services will continue until March 31, 2024.
  • Device Connectivity: From April 1 2024, devices will no longer connect to our servers. As our devices require a connection to our cloud server, they will cease to function from this date onwards.

Should you wish to do so, you will be able to request for your data to be exported. After services are terminated, all personal data will be deleted from our servers. 

  • Data Export Request Process
    • Please use this form ( before the 29th of February to request for your data to be exported.
    • Each user account may only submit one data export request.
    • Once the data export has been completed, you will be emailed a link to download your data. 
    • Due to the size of the data export, it may take several hours to export your data. 
    • If the volume of users requesting the data export is high, your export request may be queued for days or even weeks before it can be processed.
    • To protect your privacy, your data export will be deleted after 7 days (from the time you receive the download link via email). Please ensure that you download your data within this time period.

Voluntary Compensation Policy and Process:

We understand that our journey together may not have been as long as we would have wished, especially for those who only recently joined our community. To express our gratitude and to help ease this transition, we are initiating a voluntary compensation program for Ambi Climate devices sold within the past 24 months. 

  • Important Information Regarding Compensation Eligibility: 
    • Users who purchased our devices from our website (, our official Amazon, Shopee and Lazada Stores, or any authorized retail channel will be entitled to participate in this compensation program.
    • Devices acquired as part of a bundle, promotional gift or sample, or co-branded with another party will not be eligible to participate.
    • Ambi Labs reserves the exclusive right to determine the eligibility of compensation requests at our sole discretion.
    • Any requests for compensation must be submitted by the specified deadline. Users who do not submit your request by the specified deadline shall have no further entitlement to participate in the compensation program, and shall agree to waive any right or claim against our company, and release and discharge our company from any and all actions, claims or liabilities, of any kind or nature whatsoever, arising out of, or related to, the discontinuation of our services. 
  • Compensation Amount by Purchase Date:
    • After August 1, 2023: Compensation amounting to 100% of your purchase price as set out in the request form (
    • Between February 1 to July 31, 2023: Compensation amounting to 75% of your purchase price as set out in the request form (
    • Between August 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023: Compensation amounting to 50% of your purchase price as set out in the request form (
    • Between February 1 to July 31, 2022: Compensation amounting to 25% of your purchase price as set out in the request form (
  • Compensation Process:
    • Submission of Request: Please submit the required information using this request form ( by February 29, 2024.
    • Approval of Request: We will approve eligible compensation requests by March 31, 2024.
    • Compensation Processing: All approved compensation will be processed before April 30, 2024.

Saying goodbye is immensely difficult. As we close this chapter, I am filled with gratitude for having shared this path with you. You were not just users of a product; you were part of a vision that sought to revolutionize comfort. Thank you for being an essential part of Ambi Labs. May our paths cross again in future endeavors.
